Wed., Dec. 6, 2023: First Room In The Inn Winter Shelter of 2023 - Volunteers needed to set up and take down air mattresses and bedding.

  • Greater Nashville UU 374 Hicks Road Nashville, TN, 37221 (map)

Nathaniel B. is our coordinator for Room In The Inn Winter Shelter for the 2023-2024 year. We will be acting as hosts to eight guests on the first Wednesday of each month, from December to March.

Those dates are: December 6, 2023, January 3, 2024, February 7, 2024, and March 6, 2024.

Room In The Inn began in 1986 when founding director Charles Strobel, a priest at the time, offered peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to those in need gathered near his East Nashville church. Today, nearly 200 congregations representing many faith traditions engage in this ministry. The concept has become a model for programs in 36 other cities, from Calgary, Canada, to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Room In The Inn’s Winter Shelter program runs during the winter season each year, in coordination with almost 200 congregations throughout Middle Tennessee. The program provides safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for our neighbors struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year.
