Be Our Partner In Social Justice

Outreach.

Volunteering.

Protest.

Advocacy.

Social justice is a central aspect of our faith.

It emphasizes putting our shared values into action to create a more just and compassionate world.

It's driven by our core beliefs and the call to live out our values in the wider community, focusing on "deeds not creeds".

Social Justice Teams

The Greater Nashville UU Social Justice ministry serves as a catalyst for peace and social justice to realize the seven UU principles within our fellowship, the Metro Nashville area, our country, and the global community.

NOAH (Nashville Organized for Action and Hope)

Nashville Organized for Action and Hope (NOAH) is a faith led coalition that is multi-racial and interdenominational comprised of congregations, community organizations, and labor unions that work to give voice to traditionally marginalized people. NOAH engages ordinary people in the political and economic decisions affecting their lives, acting as a unified voice for the faith and justice community to act on its values in the public arena.

TUUCAN (Tennessee UU Community Action Network)

The Tennessee Unitarian Universalist Community Action Network (TUUCAN) is a UU justice ministry and legislative advocacy network with a membership reflecting UU communities across Tennessee.

What is the TUUCAN Fall Flock?

The October “Flock” in Nashville, at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville (FUUN), is open to all Tennessee UUs as we nurture connections between our churches, congregations, and fellowships. In providing localized support, we aim to pool resources for a more effective Unitarian Universalist voice in Tennessee's social justice work efforts.

  • Connect, learn, and build power with Tennessee Unitarian Universalists!

  • Nurture deeper relationships.

  • Strengthen our social justice ecosystem.

  • Create a world with love at the center.

In person or on Zoom, we hope to see you in Nashville on October 18th!

Green Sanctuary/Climate Justice

As climate change rocks our world, there is a spirit at work in the congregations and movements committed to justice.

As we make the connections between climate and justice, we are called to re-imagine what it means to do this urgent work in community.

At Greater Nashville UU, we have hosted two Climate Justice Revivals and continue our work with the Green Sanctuary program.

Room in the Inn

GNUUC provides dinner, a warm place to sleep, breakfast, and a lunch bag to eight homeless guests on the first Thursday of the month from December to February here at our church as part of the Room in the Inn program.

If you haven't had the opportunity to serve, this is the time! Our church home comes alive to its mission when we open our doors. Come join us and lay out beds and supplies, or pick up guests downtown at Room in the Inn, or make and serve a warm, home-cooked meal, or spend the night as an Innkeeper, or drive our guests back to Room in the Inn, or put the church back in order later in the morning.
