Invitation to Pledge

Read the Invitation to Pledge Letter

This an invitation to love yourself, each other, and the communities in which our congregation is embedded, to be a part of choosing who and how we hope to be together in the future, and to make plans about how you will share your time, attention, and money with GNUUC next year.

By pledging as generously as you are able, you extend our ministry in a world that needs us now, more than ever.

Are You 70½ or Older, and Do You Have an IRA?

The IRS requires you to start taking minimum distributions from your traditional IRA, and those count as taxable income. But a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) lets you send some or all of that distribution directly to GNUUC — tax-free. It never hits your income, so your taxes don't go up, and it counts toward your required minimum distribution for the year. You don't even need to itemize to get the benefit. As a church, GNUUC is automatically recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization and is eligible to receive QCDs.

To make a QCD, contact your IRA custodian (Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, etc.) and ask for a "Qualified Charitable Distribution." They will need:

  • Charity name: Greater Nashville Unitarian Universalist Congregation

  • Address: 374 Hicks Road, Nashville, TN 37221

  • Tax ID (EIN): 62-1553891

  • Amount you'd like to distribute

The check must be made payable to the congregation — not to you. It can be mailed to GNUUC directly or sent to you to deliver, but either way it cannot be made out in your name. Please let the church office know to expect your QCD so we can credit your gift and provide a written acknowledgment for your records.
