Every three to four years, NOAH re-evaluates what issues it should be focusing on over the next several years by having a Listening Campaign among its member organizations, and then taking the issue areas that emerge from that to form a slate of issue areas to be presented and voted on by the membership at an Issues Convention. The Convention will take place on Saturday, May 20, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at Greater Bethel AME Church, 1300 South St, Nashville, TN 37212. We will carpool from GNUUC, leaving around 2:00 pm to allow plenty of time for parking, signing in, and finding our place in the sanctuary. We will have one vote for each of us attending from GNUUC, up to a maximum of 10 votes, so be sure to indicate that you are from GNUUC when you sign in. We are not limited in the number of our attendees.

Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people against gun violence. They are calling for a Mother’s Day of Action: This Mother’s Day, we don’t want cards. We don’t want flowers. We want Congress to reinstate the assault weapons ban.

We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. • For Live Auction items, I suggest getting someone to act as your proxy. Buy a ticket online to get a bid number and then your proxy can pick up your paddle. Make sure they know your top budget!

Join the Auction Team! We need many different strengths in our Auction team: volunteers to plan the silent and live auction, volunteers to organize food, volunteers to organize entertainment, volunteers to help with marketing, and volunteers in charge of decorations.

Come on Saturday, February 4, from 1 PM - 3:30 PM for our next planning session. We will finalize the theme, and start working on organization, publicity, poster/flyer, decorations, and more.
