We’ll be making snack bags for Room In The Inn (RITI) as part of our 5th Sunday Service Project. The snack bags will be provided to the RITI community members. They give out 150-175 each week. Before the pandemic, GNUUC volunteered in Room In The Inn’s Winter Shelter program. The pandemic is increasing homelessness, threatening the health of the homeless, and making providing services to the homeless more difficult. Room In The Inn can use our financial support all the more this year. Please give generously!

The look of how we worship together has changed many times over the years. Remember this former sanctuary set up?

The recent Shared Ministries meeting on Sunday, September 12th, resulted in two lists of committed volunteers for two task forces: one to complete and manage the COVID 19 Safety Policy and one to manage infrastructure needs related to a hybrid service structure.

The pencil kits are making a difference!

Now that the weather is getting nicer, you are welcome to use the outdoor facilities at GNUUC to schedule meetings and casual get-togethers. We have tables and chairs you can use.

The garden knows that fall is coming….

In the Governance and Ministry model, the Vision of Ministry is an answer to the question, “In what new and different ways will we transform lives this year?” Each year, at the Annual Board Retreat, the minister and the Board, do our best to answer that question. This year, we kept it simple. We have one goal: To nurture or connections. Our connections to each other. Our connections to our physical place. And our connections to our Middle Tennessee community. The Shared Ministries Council will be meeting soon to plan Fall Programming. All Team Leaders look for more information next week! We are excited to learn about the vision of ministry from the Board for the year and are looking forward to your ideas for implementing it.

Despite the hot weather, blooms are still going strong in the memorial garden.

Thanks to those who attended the Day of Power and Prayer this past Sunday! NOAH, MICAH, and CALEB brought people together from across the state to hear about our broken education funding system and the value of nurses, counselors, and social workers in our schools. Those present signed a letter to Governor Lee, letting him know that we want change!

On Sunday, August 15 at 2:00 pm CT, NOAH, alongside our sister organizations, MICAH in Memphis and CALEB in Chattanooga, will draw attention to issues adversely impacting Tennessee’s public school students. Show up to support legislation to fund more social workers, more counselors, and more nurses in our schools! This action is both in-person and virtual.

The garden needs your help! Sandy B needs assistance in the garden. This would be a great opportunity for a student group or covenant group to volunteer. The weather is amazing and it is a perfect time to get some work done in the shade.
