A Special Announcement from Unitarian Universalist Association
I write today with guidance from the UUA about planning for safe operations in alignment with our UU values. The significant disruptions to life in our congregations and communities over the past year has been traumatic. There is, understandably, a deep yearning to gather again in person. Unfortunately, we are in an “in-between” transition time that continues to be risky. Our first concern continues to be safeguarding the well-being of our people and the public.
Our Newest Member
If you happen by the church on a sunny spring day, you may come across our newest member. This lady seems very interested in the comings and goings and frequently checks the front and back doors. We appreciate her keeping the property secure until the congregation’s return to in-person services.
Pledge Drive is April 11 - 18. Remember to turn in your Pledge Card!
In order to sustain our mission we count on your support. Help us meet our goal of $100,000 for the current Fiscal Year (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022)! https://www.nashvilleuu.org/pledge Click to read a letter from our Pledge Drive Chair.
April Share the Plate: Stop AAPI Hate
Our Share the Plate partner this month is Stop AAPI Hate. In response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council, Chinese for Affirmative Action, and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University launched the Stop AAPI Hate reporting center on March 19, 2020.
March 2021 Share the Plate Organization: Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee
Second Harvest is working to meet extraordinary pandemic needs. “The impact of the pandemic was felt immediately. Demand for our services increased by 50% as food resources became harder and harder to secure. Second Harvest had to reevaluate our programs and completely adjust our distribution models to provide no-contact distributions and ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and clients.”

A Statement from the Board of GNUUC
We, the Board of the Greater Nashville Unitarian Universalist Congregation, condemn the March 16th Atlanta-area massage business shootings that left eight people dead, including six women of Asian descent.
New Minister for August 2021. Rev. Cynthia to Retire July 2021
Come August 2021, Greater Nashville will most likely be welcoming a new minister to our pulpit. Rev. Cynthia met with the Board and let us know that she'd like to retire in July of this year to make way for a new cycle of ministry. A post-pandemic cycle of ministry.
We have excellent partners at the Transitions Office at the UUA. They are the team that facilitates the matching of UU congregations and UU ministers. They know who all the UU ministers are, where they are, and who's looking for work. They know who all the congregations are, what their ministerial history is, and the hard work of maturation they have done.
