NOAH Listening Campaign In Full Swing!
NOAH members have embarked on a new Listening Campaign to learn more about the “hearts and minds” issues in our community. This process identifies issues and develops our organizations. GNUUC is participating in the Listening Campaign by having one-on-one conversations with our members. If you are contacted by a member of our Listening Team to schedule a conversation with you, please say yes!
March Share the Plate Partner is the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Tennessee
The ACLU is in alignment with our congregation’s mission statement: "We champion justice, equity, and peace", as well as our status as a UUA "Welcoming Congregation." The ACLU states: “We are an enduring guardian of justice, freedom, fairness, and equality, working to protect and advance civil liberties and civil rights for all Tennesseans.” Please give generously.

January 2023: Share the Plate with Americans United for Separation of Church and State: ‘Freedom Without Favor, Equality Without Exception’
Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a nonpartisan educational and advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the separation of religion and government as the only way to ensure freedom of religion, including the right to believe or not believe, for all. Please donate to Americans United through Share the Plate in January, defending freedom of religion, and freedom of belief.
UUSC Guest at Your Table 2022-23: Our December Share the Plate Partner
Our Share the Plate partner for December is the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee Guest At Your Table Program. UUSC works around the world to advance human rights and social justice, transforming our UU values into action. GNUUC has a long tradition of celebrating our UUSC Guests. The theme of this year’s program is “Hope. Courage. Action.”
Dec. 12, 2022: Neighborhood Meetings for Public Comment on Plans for the Titans Stadium
Metro Council's East Bank Stadium Committee is holding public meetings across the city on the proposed new stadium for the Titans. It’s not a done deal yet, and this committee wants to hear from you. Some background information can be found here.

Room In The Inn Winter Shelter coming to GNUUC - Volunteers Needed for January 2023
Nathaniel B. is our coordinator for Room In The Inn Winter Shelter for the 2022-2023 year. We will be acting as hosts to eight guests on the first Wednesday of each month, from December to March. Those dates are December 7, 2022, January 4, 2023, February 1, 2023, and March 1, 2023. Click Read More for volunteer positions needed and a sample schedule. Our November Share the Plate Recipient is Open Table Nashville
Open Table Nashville takes a stand on the side of people experiencing homelessness, and works for justice by fostering personal and systemic transformation. In July, Tennessee became the first state to enact a law that makes it a misdemeanor if a person camps on or near a state roadway, and makes it a felony to camp on public property. Please give, to provide urgently needed help.

Thank you for your extraordinary generosity toward Nashville Cares this year. At GNUUC we have a long-standing tradition of generous support for Nashville CARES through our enthusiastic participation in its annual AIDS Walk fundraising. Their mission is to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee.

Sun., Oct. 9 at 3 PM: Build the Beloved Community! NOAH Public Meeting (Offsite)
Every fall, NOAH (Nashville Organized for Action and Hope) holds its annual Public Meeting. These meetings are a time for accountability – from our city leaders and from ourselves. This year, NOAH will hold its first in-person annual meeting since 2019! We will gather at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, at Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, 2708 Jefferson St. Mayor Cooper and other decision-makers will be present to see how NOAH is "Building the Beloved Community" and to answer our questions.
Our October Share the Plate Organization is Room In The Inn
GNUUC has only recently completed needed repairs to its main buildings. We are also rebuilding our programs in the wake of the disruption caused by the pandemic. We are now at a stage of rebuilding that we can host RITI-served homeless men overnight at GNUUC, yet RITI certainly needs our financial support all the more this year. Please give generously!

Greater Nashville UU has been a longtime Room In The Inn partner, and we need to decide whether or not to continue our work as a host congregation, providing overnight accommodations and meals to a small group once a month.

September Share the Plate: Nashville Cares AIDS Walk. Donate and/or Join the Walk October 1!
At GNUUC we have a long-standing tradition of supporting Nashville CARES through our enthusiastic participation in its annual AIDS Walk fundraising. Their mission is to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee.
Our goal this year is to raise over $1,000! Donations under $100 go to Share the Plate, with 50% going to Nashville Cares and 50% going to the GNUUC Plate. Donations of $100 or more go to the Direct Donor Fund, with 100% going to Nashville Cares.
This year, an outdoor AIDS Walk and Nashville Cares festival are planned for Saturday, October 1. Festivities start at 8 AM and go until 2 PM. We’ll send out an update when we know exactly when the walk is (usually in the morning). August 2022 Share the Plate is UU the Vote
UU the Vote is a non-partisan faith initiative to engage our neighbors, educate our communities, mobilize voters, and rally around key ballot initiatives by the Unitarian Universalist Association. We support congregations and UU organizations in activating thousands to mobilize voters, counter voter suppression, and engage in spiritually grounded, values-based issue conversations with voters in their communities. The UU Side With Love Campaign Responds to the Repeal of Roe
Earlier today, the Supreme Court of the United States handed down its decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson case. The final opinion effectively overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated federal protections for abortion. Each state will now be able to independently regulate abortion, with at least 26 states poised to entirely ban abortion care beginning immediately.

GNUUC’s June Pride Month Share the Plate Organization is Just Us at the Oasis Center
Just Us is a group of programs at Oasis Center dedicated to helping lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth to achieve their full potential. Just Us provides LGBTQ+ students a liberating space where they can be authentic and celebrate the fluidity of identity. Please give generously to provide LGBTQ+ youth, who often face public intolerance and rejection, an Oasis of welcome.
