October Share the Plate Partner is Room In The Inn
When someone experiences hospitality and safety and a feeling of belonging, they experience sanctuary. ~ Charles Strobel, founding director
Home is more than a place. It is a sense of belonging. We want everyone at Room In The Inn to experience belonging and to be accepted as they are at any given moment. - Rachel Hester, Executive Director
In October, GNUUC will be sharing our plate with Room In The Inn, which is celebrating 40 years of hospitality and service to Nashville’s unhoused population. This year, we will continue our hosting of overnight guests as part of RITI’s Winter Shelter program, which includes sending guests on their way with a sack lunch, as well as serving dinner and breakfast.
The program provides safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for our neighbors struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year. In the 2023-24 season, congregations provided more than 15,000 beds.
Of course, RITI provides services way beyond the Winter Shelter program. These include support services, such as:
Shower Services
Important Document & Medicine Storage
Mail
Lunch
Phone & Computer Access
Laundry Services
Legal & ID Clinic
Foot Clinic
Long-Term Storage
Additionally, RITI provides a guest house and recuperative care, works with people to achieve transitional and permanent supportive housing, and operates Hope University: Education & Workforce Development, which provides opportunities for lifelong learning and self-empowerment, including everything from creative arts to peer-led support groups to tutoring and mentorship to a computer lab & career center, and much more.
Please give generously to Share the Plate with Room In The Inn this month!
