November Share the Plate Partner is Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is dedicated to ensuring equitable access to the food and resources people in our community need to thrive. For nearly 50 years, we have welcomed our neighbors with radical hospitality, empowering them to live free from the daily burden of food insecurity. We prioritize innovation and remain committed to sustainability as we strive for a future where everyone is food secure and no food is wasted.

Second Harvest Food Bank does more than just distribute food, though it is an essential part of our work. We believe in the importance of meeting people where they are, with compassion and acceptance, so they can access the resources they depend on. We build relationships, engage in our community, and advocate for change. Our strategic partnerships with other community organizations help connect our neighbors to additional services that support the whole person. We know a future without food insecurity is possible, and we are working diligently toward it.

With layoffs, the government shutdown, and the impending suspension of SNAP benefits, Second Harvest’s resources will be stretched exceedingly thin, as record numbers of Middle Tennesseans are likely to call on them for assistance with food and other services. According to a July 2025 News Channel 5 report, almost 250,000 people in Middle Tennessee rely on SNAP. This same report said that food insecurity in Davidson County had increased by 43% since January. When people don’t have the resources to feed themselves and their families, they are faced with impossible choices as they must decide among food, rent, medicine, and other basic needs.

Please help make a dent in this need and give generously to Share the Plate with Second Harvest!
