Sat., April 25: 10 AM - 2 PM: Climate Justice Workshop
Saturday, April 25 | 10 AM – 2 PM
Join us for our next Climate Justice Workshop as we continue our congregation's journey through the Green Sanctuary 2030 program — the UUA's framework for mobilizing the UU faith community toward ambitious, intersectional climate justice action.
Facilitators: Kristin R. and Caren S-S.
You do not need to have attended previously to participate — everyone is welcome!
Lunch will be provided. To help us with our head count, please sign up at Sunday lunch on April 4, 12, or 19, or email Kristin at kristin.reveal@gnuuc.org. Be sure to include any dietary restrictions so we can plan accordingly. Of course, you're also welcome to simply show up on Saturday — we just appreciate a heads up when possible!
Green Sanctuary 2030 provides structure, leadership, and support for congregations to live fully into our UU principles and work toward a sustainable and just world for all. Congregations can engage with the goal of formal accreditation, or simply to advance climate justice in the ways that best fit their capacity and context.
The Four Essentials of Climate Action that guide this work are:
Mitigation — Reducing emissions from energy usage, transportation, waste, and consumption
Congregational Transformation — Working together to improve the ways we organize and collaborate
Community Resilience — Cultivating communities of care to prepare for and respond to climate disruption
Justice — Partnering with those most harmed by climate change to build thriving communities
These four areas are distinct but deeply interconnected — and our congregation's work touches all of them.
At last month's workshop, we dove into the Mitigation component — exploring how we can reduce emissions from energy usage, transportation, waste, and consumption. This month, we'll continue that work and begin exploring a second Essential of Climate Action: Congregational Transformation — working together to improve the ways we organize and collaborate as a faith community in service of climate justice.
