NOAH Public Meeting on September 27! Same time, new location!
On Sunday, September 27 at 3 pm, NOAH will hold our annual public meeting “No One Left Behind This Time” at Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church.
This is an opportunity to build community power around public safety accountability, closing corporate tax loopholes, and ending ICE overreach. This meeting will have expert speakers, lived-experience speakers, and direct actions you can immediately take to create an impact in your community. Let’s stand up together as Nashvillians to make sure that no one gets left behind whether at a traffic stop, a grocery line, or a detention camp.

NOAH 2026 Public Meeting
NO ONE LEFT BEHIND THIS TIME
On Sunday, September 27 at 3 pm, NOAH will hold our annual public meeting- “No One Left Behind This Time: A Public Meeting for a New Era” at Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church. Our intention is to build community power around three critical issues that are impinging on our democracy and to make our voices heard in the midterm elections.
The issues
PUBLIC SAFETY: In Nashville, city leadership should be accountable for public safety. Nashvillians deserve a police department free from political influence, such as that which allegedly occurred between high-ranking police department officials and state legislators. This kind of backroom relationship led to the defanging of the Community Oversight Board through state preemption in 2023. We need our Mayor and Police Chief to make sure this type of violation does not happen again on their watch!
CLOSING CORPORATE TAX LOOPHOLES: Our state’s budget should not depend on the taxes we pay at the grocery store check out line! Did you know that Tennesseans pay the fourth highest grocery rate in the country? What kind of taxes do billionaires and big corporations pay in Tennessee? They set up shop here because of the massive tax loopholes our legislature has granted them. NOAH believes we could do away with the tax on food by charging a tax on corporations. In fact, increasing the corporate rate to just 2.3 percent would more than make up for the difference when removing the tax on food.
PROTECTING HEALTH CARE FROM ICE: In April, 2026, ICE officers targeted a young man from Central America in Murfreesboro. He sustained an injury when he fled the officers, only for them to track him to Ascension St. Thomas Hospital in Rutherford County. NOAH’s Immigrant Rights Campaign, with leaders from regional advocacy organizations, are building relationships with officials at Ascension St. Thomas, to ask how their hospital, mission-driven and designed to protect our most vulnerable neighbors, could permit ICE entry into this young man’s hospital room. NOAH wants a protocol, informed by everyday people, that protects patients, hospital personnel and the broader community, to screen for unwarranted entry by law enforcement.
STOPPING ICE CALL CENTER: A national ICE Call Center is being planned for Nashville. NOAH, along with our partners - TIRRC, Music City Migra Watch, and others wants to make sure we do all that we can to prevent this from happening. The ICE Call Center, with a $63 million Department of Homeland Security price tag, will serve as a hub for state and local law enforcement agencies across the country to coordinate their enforcement activities. NOAH’s Immigrant Rights Campaign is working closely with partner organizations and local elected officials to keep the public alert and ready to act to stop this call center from setting up shop.
Each of these issues represents a violation of the democratic values we hold so deeply. Our diverse faiths, unions and nonprofits tell us who we are and that we deserve justice in our relationships with local law enforcement, equity in how corporations pay taxes, and freedom to seek medical care and move around our city without fear of racial profiling. For us to live out our values, we must clear in our demands for justice! We must also meet our demands by participating in the 2026 midterms and all elections! So, at NOAH’s 2026 Public Meeting, we will build the power we need for justice at the polls. We will show up to demonstrate, “No One Left Behind This Time,” not at the hands of police, not in the grocery stores, not in our hospitals or neighborhoods and not at the polls!
