NOAN: It’s Budget Season in Nashville! Email Council members…
For a decade, faith institutions, nonprofits, and affordable housing developers have been using the Barnes Housing Trust Fund to create affordable homes in our city. From Habitat for Humanity's homeownership programs to Clark Memorial UMC's building six family homes on their property, this is a vital piece of the solution to Nashville's housing crisis.
For all of this time, NOAH’s Affordable Housing Task Force has been advocating for robust funding for the Barnes Fund. But the Barnes Fund has been at risk – last year, our city invested just half of the recommended amount. We need less than 1% of our city budget invested in housing, and our city leaders won't even give us that.
Please email your councilmembers ASAP urging them to invest at least $30 million into the Barnes Housing Trust Fund! You can reach all council members at once at councilmembers@nashville.gov.
