Greater Nashville has always been a place of refuge, an extended family that offered a place of comfort and support. We care for one another when we are sick, when we are low, as we age. We challenge one another to grow, and we nurture and help raise each others children. We have championed social justice issues, and had our eyes opened. And now, we have begun to open up to our community, and to act on our principles. We have been a beacon for people to gather around, and now we are carrying that light out into the world. We are discovering that we are mighty when we live our mission.
Our congregation truly is for times such as these.
We do this work together. Our congregation operates on the money we pledge to it--it is up to us.
If you are a friend, but support us financially by putting money in the plate, thank you. By pledging, even as a friend not yet a member, you allow us to plan for the year. If you have pledged in the past, thank you. Please think deeply about what sacrifice you are willing to give in order to realize our mission, to make a greater Nashville, and a better world.
We are asking for an increase so that we can fully fund all of our programs. Think deeply, consider the importance of our congregation in these times, and pledge generously.
We would like to have all pledges in by April 9 so the Board can prepare a budget for 2017-2018 for your vote during our May congregational meeting. Please call if you have questions or comments, Jesse Spencer-Smith, Pledge Chair.
